from the Andrew Bird site, a quick shot of my new poster for them, printed by Tom Kelly at Ground Up Press
Another great poster for this tour that sold out before the show even started. You can find more of Gina Kelly’s work at Weather Maker Press.

Here’s the final Beirut poster for LA’s Greek Theater show. The last poster was a cleaner image, and I wanted to play with a painterly look on this one. They all sold out at the venue, so I’m glad the audience liked it enough to make that happen.

a story
once upon a time in a not so far away place, but kinda far when you think of it in terms of walking or using a bicycle, there was a really big tree that no body knew about. this tree was happy enough in the world, the sky was always changing and no two days looked alike. then one day a young woman climbed the hill on which the tree lived, and stared at the trees marvelous branches. 3 minutes later the woman was in the tree, and she saw another person coming up the hill. he waved hello, climbed the tree, sat and looked peaceful. Person after person came climbing up the hill, one after another, all just to sit in the branches of this lovely magnificent tree. Finally, when the tree thought she was as full as she could be with all of these new people sitting in her branches, one more girl came and asked everyone what it was they were doing. were they waiting? were the giong to do something all at once? why had they come to the tree? the tree thought that this was a good question and that she had better listen to the answers…but in the end there were none. each person looked around with a smile on their face and said something like “oh no reason, i just saw this tree here on the hill for the first time and i decided to come and climb it”. the next person said “well, me, i saw her getting into the tree, and i jus thought it was a really nice idea, so i came too”, then the next person spoke, and do you know what they said? they said everyone looked so lovely sitting in the tree that they wanted to be a part of something so lovely. this made the tree so happy and she realized that anything could happen, even on an already really nice day, to make life a little more special that it was just a minute before.
